Wilson scores three rushing touchdowns, leads N. Rowan past Chatham Central, 55-0

Bear Creek, N.C. — North Rowan shut out Chatham Central in a Saturday afternoon showdown, 55-0.

The Cavaliers got ball rolling early in the first quarter.

Malcolm Wilson took the handoff and found the end zone for a 12-yard touchdown. The extra point was good which gave the Cavs the 7-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later, quarterback Willis Mitchell found a streaking receiver down the right sideline. Quintous Smith Jr. outran the coverage to score, doubling the lead.

The Cavaliers dominance continued early in the second quarter.

Back to back penalties gave North Rowan possession at the 20 yard line.

Mitchell found Denerio Robinson Jr. on the short pass. He ran it the rest of the way for the score, putting the Cavs up, 21-0.

Wilson scored his second touchdown of the day on a 51-yard run. North Rowan took a 28-0 lead with two minutes left in the first half.

Chatham Central turned the ball over on the ensuing possession, which set up another Cavs touchdown.

Mitchell found Robinson Jr. again, this time in the left corner of the end zone.

The Cavaliers took a 35-0 lead into halftime.

The third quarter saw more of the same.

North Rowan scored back to back touchdowns to open the second half, increasing the lead, 48-0.

The Cavaliers went on to defeat Chatham Central, 55-0.

North Rowan improves to 6-1. They will next face North Stanly.

Chatham Central will be looking for it’s first win on the season on Friday against South Stanly.
