Fuquay-Varina uses late come back to beat Cary 33-21

Fuquay-Varina needed a late fourth quarter comeback to take down Cary 33-21 and remain unbeaten on Friday night.

The Bengals and Imps played a tightly contested first half with both teams scoring one touchdown a piece. Fuquay-Varina took the lead in the third quarter on a long run, and then Shayquan Pittman added a four yard score in the fourth quarter to give the Bengals a 20-7 lead.

Zack Wagner cut into the deficit for the Imps with a 16 yard run and then AJ Archie returned a punt to give Cary the lead in the fourth quarter. Tyrese Davis scored on a pitch play to put Fuquay-Varina up five and then Caden Linkous sealed the deal with a long touchdown run of his own with two minutes left in the game,

Both teams hit the road next week. Fuquay-Varina travels to Harnett Central on Friday night and Cary heads to Broughton on Thursday night.
