Autopsy: Sampson woman found dead was stabbed more than 30 times

— A Sampson County woman who was reported missing in March and then was found dead days later had been stabbed more than 30 times, according to an autopsy report.

Eileen Marie Carter, 41, of Garland, was reported missing by relatives on March 28.

Sampson County deputies found her body on March 31 in a wooded area in the Ingold community.

According to the autopsy, the investigation suggests a “struggle” ensued, and “slashing” areas were immediately apparent.

She was stabbed 32 times, and partial stab or slashing wounds were found on multiple parts of her body. The autopsy report shows nine head and neck wounds, 11 torso wounds and 12 stab and slashing wounds to her extremities.

The medical examiner ruled Carter‘s death a homicide and said she died as a result of multiple sharp force trauma wounds.
